During Wednesday’s Speaker Series, students learned about McKenna Graf’s career and her passion to writing and film. At this I&E, students learned about McKenna’s projects, including her published book of poetry called ““Mortals, Myths, and Maybes” ” with Parisian Phoenix Publishing and her documentary called Lost Conversations. Students learned about the process of publishing any work, from drafting to releasing it and going on book tours. McKenna also talked about how she manages her time when going through school and being a poet, plus her love of writing at an early age. The takeaway of this session for people who want to go into a career field like McKenna’s was to not give up and be confident. McKenna says to keep writing and practicing because you never know what might happen if you accept those challenges. Even if you are nervous to share your idea to the world, a publisher could say yes to it if you try, which was what happened to McKenna! In the end, the students at the I&E learned a lot of information to creating films and stories and had so much fun listening to McKenna Graf’s career path!
