If you’re fourteen or about to hit your birthday, you should head down to the office for your working papers. Ms. Medows, Ms. Cooper, or Ms. Chmiel will help you out. Just ask and they’ll give you a piece of paper that you need to fill out with your personal information and get a parent/guardian signature. Turn it in and they’ll get you that little blue slip that gets you your paycheck.
The reason you need working papers is because we’re all still underage. This document shows that you’ll be safe and competent in a work environment. It also makes sure that your future employer acknowledges that you can’t work as many hours because of school.
