Kids These Days
Kids these days
They have no fun
Sitting around on their phones
Not responding to their parents
Only responding to online friends
That they’ve never even met
Kids these days
They don’t embrace the beauty of the world
Obsessing over makeup
Styling their hair
The only beauty they care about
Is how they look
Kids these days
Don’t get enough sleep
Looking at their screens all night
Escaping reality
But the reality of what they’ve done
Dawns on them in the morning
When they realize they didn’t sleep
And they have school
Kids these days
Always complain
They don’t enjoy the little things
Since they are so desperate to film it
on their phones
Kids these days
Obsess over little black boxes
Kids these days
Shut themselves out
They lock the doors that lead
To a world outside of their phones
And they throw away the key

Nature’s Creation
Pink, yellow, gold
The sun starts to peak over the mountains
I exit my tent and stare in wonder
At nature’s most beautiful thing
As I walk down the path, the sun shines brighter
Orange, yellow, red
It shines through the trees
Through every obstacle in its way
The sun is nature’s most resilient thing
Bright yellow, white, a bursting blue
The sun climbs to the top of the sky
Over the mountains it shines and brings life
The sun is nature’s most dazzling thing
The bright yellow dot starts to dip below the horizon
The cycle starts again
Purple, green, a deep dark blue
The sun is nature’s most wonderful thing
